ROUVROY has taken part to the expert interdisciplinary workshop "Learning a Foreign Language: Surveillance" organized
by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law
School (www.cyber.law.harvard.edu) in collaboration with the
Research Center for Information Law at the University of St.
Gallen (www.fir.unisg.ch) as a part of a transatlantic research
co-operation. The workshop's aim was to gain a deeper conceptual
and practical understanding of surveillance as a complex phenomenon
at the intersection of law, technology, economics, sociology,
and psychology. She presented and moderated the session on "The
social costs of surveillance", Rapperswil (Switzerland),
21 to 23 May 2009.
