General information (January 2010)
- At the Council of Europe request, CRID is preparing an introductory report on the legal aspects of the cloud computing.
- The CRID was pleased to welcome Luiz COSTA, bresilian prosecutor to San Paulo from 15 till 28 January on the occasion of the Conference for the 30th Anniversary of the CRID and Monica VILASAU, PhD student from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya which is stayed with us from 19 January till 3 February in order to participate to our Conference and make some researches for her thesis on Data Protection.
- CRID has coorganized together with Fraunhofer Institute, INRIA, TILT (University of Tilburg) and LSTS (Free University of Brussels) the 3d CPDP Conference : "Privacy: An element of choice", held at Brussels the 29 th and 30th of January. CPDP 2010 is Europe's most important meeting for academics, practitioners, policy-makers and activists to come.
- Depuis le 1er février, l'Unité Libertés dans la Société de l'information a le plaisir d'accueillir Feyrouze OMRANI. Elle travaille sur un contrat conclu avec la CPVP. Son travail consiste en la rédaction d'un rapport scientifique et la constitution d'un dossier scientifique portant sur les données santé et la recherche en vue de la Conférence qui sera organisée par la Commission en novembre 2010 dans le cadre de la présidence européenne de la Belgique.
- Yves POULLET has been nominated as expert, member of the scientific Board of the European Privacy Association, a non profit organisation located at Brusssels.
- Yves POULLET will participate at the kick off meeting of the PRACTIS EU FP 7 research project which will take place at Tel Aviv (Israël).
- Yves POULLET has been invited by the CNIL (the French DPA) for delivering a lesson about the notion of "personal data" under Privacy legislation, 7 January 2010.
- New contract:
- The projetct PRACTIS (“Privacy-Appraising Challenges to Technology and Ethics”) financed by the FP7 of the European Union is jointly led by the CRID and the CITA. For the CRID, the project is treated by Yves POULLET, Antoinette ROUVROY and Caroline COLIN and for the CITA, by Claire LOBET-MARIS and Alexis VAN ESPEN.
PRACTIS will explore novel policy options for addressing individuals’ changing privacy needs in the light of new technologies, as well as exploring new ethical frameworks in law and implementing guidelines for new technology or product development. ... By bringing leading experts in technology foresight and assessment together with specialists in ethical and legal aspects of privacy, PRACTIS offers a unique combination of disciplines that will produce new knowledge on the relationship between technology, privacy and ethics.
