• New contracts:
  
  • The "Liberties in the Information Society" Unit, the computer engineering Department (PRISME) and the automatic language processing Center (CENTAL) of the UCL, the Artificial Intelligence research laboratory (IRIDIA) of the ULB have obtained the research contrat of general interest "WIST 3.0." ELIS-IT (Expertise Localization from Informal Sources & Information Technologies) from the Walloon Region.
    The research, which lasts 36 months starting january 2011, the research aims at developping software-based tools that, using a series of informal sources linked to an organization, are able to identify knowledge and experts. Feyrouze Omrani's mission is to support legally the project, more specifically in terms of personal data protection and privacy.
  • The research unit "Intellectual Property" got, in collaboration with UCL, a WIST project. The MIPs, ?marquage d'IP sécurisé? project aims to develop a technique that enables to determine if an integrated electronic circuit is or not based on a specific code or an intellectual property license, in order to detect the eventual illegal uses. The tasks of the Intellectual property Unit last three years and consist in examining the legal bases of the detection technique.

• Séverine Dusollier and Caroline Colin gave a presentation on "Peer-to-peer: legal Perspectives in Belgium", in a Conference dedicated to the legal answers to the issue of peer-to-peer, University of Brussels, 14 December 2010.
• Zakaria KARAMBIRI gave a course on « l’environnement juridique de la création d’entreprise et la propriété intellectuelle », University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 14-18 december 2010.
• Cristina Dos Santos gave a lecture on "Legal awareness of Privacy Aspects" to the students of "Principles of Statistics" of Professor Rémon M., Faculty of Sciences/FUNDP, Namur, 2 December 2010.
